[NoVa-Corvairs] POR-15 emergency

Thanks Curt,

Bryan came through with a vial of the substance on Friday, so it was all
applied by noon on Saturday. Greg also offered some of the stuff, but I
am done with it for a short while.

The entire front undercarriage is now POR-ed and I have put the new brake
lines in place, ready for the refurbished tank to go in. Still fighting
the two rearmost caged nuts which are welded in and have bolts welded in
them via rust. Have half drilled them out and broke off a bit in
one....which is causing angst, delay and cussing. Any tips on removal
appreciated.

Have the whole front suspension rebuilt sitting in the basement waiting to
go back in. Front also has new springs and Konis as well as all new
busings, ball joints and tie rod ends....should be nice if I can clear the
way to installing them. Lots of goodies to put back on including the
new Flaming River quick steering box and converting to a dual master brake
cylinder, kevlar brakes, braided steel brake lines, etc., etc....maybe I
should write an article when all is done and I can drive it again. Maybe
just a parts list!

Thing is, the bottom looks great despite the rust holes that remain...but
the top part (the part most folks will see) will still look like crap.

Report on road testing the Konis to follow....soon....I hope.

Darrin

Darrin:

Caught without sufficient supplies you POR boy. Sorry I don't have any.
I find once you open it, it doesn't save well.

By the way have you a report on how the Koni's are working?

Curt
