There are books to look up both numbers you questioned and when I get a minute I will see if I can find them.  I drove 530 miles back from Detroit in my Corvair.
Regarding the ground cable, it can go on the back of the generator or any where where you get a good ground to the engine.  It has been over 40 years since I had a Corvair with a generator but I think the ground cable goes to one of the large 9/16' bolts that hold the engine shroud onto the cylinder head near the rear of the cylinder by the oil cooler.
