I had the following email exchange with the fellow who sold me the part
-- does his response sound accurate? Dewey,
I'm positive. The '65 has the long slots in which the secondary linkage
slides
-- here's one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CORVAIR-1965-140-HP-Carb-Cross-Shaft_W0QQitemZ150162663485QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150162663485
The '66+ doesn't slide -- I'm afraid that I don't have enough experience
with
66+ cars to describe exactly how the linkage works.
Please let me know what you have!
Daniel: Puzzle identified!! Your '65 is a LATE model !! The early version (like
mine) is the one I sold to you. There was a 1965 mid-year design change by GM on
that part which opened the secondaries differently(long slot) ;therefore what
you need is the late '65 thru 1969 version, which I also have! Sneaky GM, did not
provide a breakpoint for that change,at least, I've been unable to find a record
of the change. Sorry for the confusion. What now ?? I do have the "long
slide/slot" version. Dewey

Daniel:
Are you sure that you can not bend the original cross over shaft back
into near new shape? After all you have a reputation of being a bit on
the physical side.
I probably have one but all my car parts stuff is boxed up and in self
storage.
