Clark's today.

Darrin:

Not sure why a slipping harmonic balancer would make the car die suddenly
unless the engine froze up from over heating and I don't think that is
what happen.  But, for a road side repair I have gotten the HB off by
using bolts into the two bolt holes in the HB.  Screw them all the way
through the balancer and put a large steel washer between the end of the
bolt and the soft aluminium on the engine.  Then you can push the
balancer off.  I think the last time I did it this way I used paint
scrapers between the end of the bolt and the engine.  In fact, I think I
only had one paint scraper and I moved it from one side to the other as I
alternated tightening down on the screws.
