Hi folks,

Some useful perspectives. I can see it being either better or worse,
because of course the devil's in the details. Reading through the
notes, here are some questions, pros, and cons - please let me know
if I've missed anything. I am basing some of these on the suggested
Waynesboro location:

Questions:
  - How do we divvy up the events? Each club get the same event
every year? Or do we discuss each year?
  - What event do we want to do?
  - What events? Schedule of events?
  - Is there really a venue for an autocross?
  - The proposed hotel looks good, has anyone contacted them? Have
they done a car event?

Pro:
  - Stable location means our venue is more likely to be available to
us in coming years.
  - Possible multi year contracts, so either a discount or at least
no price increase.
  - Repeating the same venue means we already know how to set things up.
  - Doing the same tasks every year would equal less learning curve,
so less overall work, a better event, or both.
  - Some folks will come every year simply because they know where
the VF will be next year.
  - The RVCC folks will do more (recall they can't support a VF right
now).
  - We may be able to have an autocross.
  - Travel planning is easier if you're going to the same place.
  - Spreading the load means nobody works the whole event and misses
all the fun.

Con:
  - Unless the location is close to you, the VF is *always* far away
(Waynesboro is about 3 hours from me).
  - First time planning will be difficult because most folks are not
local to the site.
  - Every club has to do something every year. Therefore, some
members will do something every year.
  - Unless the locale is especially interesting, people may grow
tired of it, especially the non-enthusiast members of the family.
  - Some members of each club will never go, because it's not
convenient.
  - Some out of state folks who came to one club's location will not
attend because the new location is too far away.
  - Folks more local to the event may get stuck with certain tasks.

One point - if it really doesn't work out, we could always go back to
rotating it around. I think there is enough support at this point to
at least get with the other clubs and discuss it.
