Darrin, et al:

You asked how things are going out here in the arid hinterlands - high
and dry (pun intended).  The weather is nice but humidity has been
running around 10%.  A big change from the DC area.

Another thing I can say is that the attitude (6,000') has sapped the
power from my 140.  It has lost it's crispness and is running too rich. 
If it dies during idling or for whatever reason you have to have the
carbs wide open or it will flood.  I think I have .053 jets in the carbs
and will have to rejet it leaner.  I will also try using intermediate
octane gasoline. My engine with the steps milled out of the heads is
fairly octane insensitive and with the higher altitude I think 89 octane
will be fine.  Of course, if I drive down to the flat lands everything
will change again.  Maybe I need a turbo motor.  Darrin, you know where I
can get any parts for one??

There are no Corvair clubs in the area nor antique car clubs.  I plan on
joining the local cruisers' club, the only action in town.  I say plan
because I just happen to be away during their last 2 meetings although I
did catch one of the "park & display" events.  I had plan to drive up to
a Corsa sponsored event in Pagosa Springs, CO (about 8 hours) but that
too did not work out as that week end I have to come back to Virginia to
get my daughter from college.  Maybe I can make the Great Fan Belt Toss
event which I think is in Arizona.

Anyway I have enjoyed reading all of the chatter on the club E-mail list
and hope to time a trip back to Virginia around the next Vair Fair or at
least a club meeting.
