Curt,

You should have called a meeting before you dropped the motor...we are
really good at that part!

Good to hear you are finding some Corvairs out there.

Darrin

[NoVa-Corvairs] Colorado Corvair Meet

Members:

First, regarding the possible project car, if you do this, make up a list
of parts needed. I know I have extra parts and most of you do.
Remembering that I am older than you I would rather have extra Corvair
parts go into a car that will be "on the road" than have a surviving
somebody take everything to the dump.

I went to my first regional Corvair meet out here 5/16-18 which was in
Pagosa Springs, CO. The 3 states of New Mexico, Colorado and Utah rotate
hosting this annual meet. The club I am in the process of joining,
Corvairs of New Mexico, will host it next year in Taos, NM.

The meet was a big surprise for me and it consisted of a people's choice
on Saturday morning and a banquet on Saturday night. And the peoples
choice was not held at the host hotel or nearby but at a local restaurant
parking lot. That's it. This was an eight hour, one way drive for me.
Still, I enjoyed myself and would do it again. On the plus side there
was no registration fee. In fact, the only fees were $25 for the buffet
banquet and $15 for a T-shirt if you wanted one. The T-shirts were in
memorial for recent, deceased members whose cars were on the shirts.
There was only one person, Laura, running registration. In fact, I think
Laura ran everything herself. Still there were 36 Corvairs and 97
registrants. They did give nice plaques out for peoples' choice and I
wondered how they paid for them.

Unfortunately after the 16 hour round trip I need to drop my powertrain.
What I believe is the throwout bearing has begun to screech really loud.
Too bad as I put it in new only 12,000 miles ago. Oh well, it will give
me a chance to replace the original brake lines above the engine.
Probably time to do it don't you think. Now, if I host a meeting here in
NM and you all came out I could get the job done a lot faster.

I am going to the CORSA convention and I hope to see some of you there
but I don't think any of you are going.

Curt
