[NoVa-Corvairs] Corvair Trip

So sorry -- was tied up with off-group convos with a few, and forgot to
address the group. Here's a reprint of what I sent to Bryan Blackwell
when he inquired:

"Oh yeah, got busy with her arrival and being here and forgot to sit
down and report. She arrived [Sunday evening] and must've driven
slowly [back from Williamsburg] because it took her much longer then
her trip down there. She only had to add a very small amount of ATF,
stopped three times to check, and reverse even kicked back in as a
result of the drive. So, no bubbling up or over, no pooling of fluid
on the pans, etc. She was excited that reverse began working. Now, I
just need to resist the temptation to go with the status quo waiting
for it to completely fry and go ahead and get it on up to
Gettysburg. I will go ahead and schedule that. So, all's well that
ends well, and she was thrilled with the trip overall. When all her
friends saw her car, the bride and groom even asked if they could
use it as their get-away car from the reception, and Catherine
consented. So, it served bonus duty on the trip, and all was well.
She is thrilled and in love with her car again.

So, she made it home fine, gained renewed faith in her old beautiful
car, put a total of 500 miles on it, had a blast with all her old
friends, and was proud that her beautiful old car got top billing in the
wedding (1,000 guests!). Catherine left very early this morning for
Costa Rica as I drove her to Reagan National in the dark. She was very
satisfied, and hopeful for the future, as I assured her that a
replacement (rebuilt) PG was in her future. Based on all of your input
and the posts on the VV blog, I think some components in that PG are fried.

Don't know when she'll be home again, but I'm committed to taking the
car up to Gettysburg to get a replacement dropped in and then I think
I'll have a nice car which I can drive weekly or so. I can't recall just
how many times she said how surprised she was that I even kept it for
her, let alone that she could drive it to the big event.

So, you guys made me a hero as predicted, and I thank you all. Much good
advice and encouragement all converged to make this dream a reality.
Special thanks to Bryan and Trevor for the valuable day they spent
working on the car. Bill -- she couldn't believe her horn actually worked!

When I have an appointment to go to Gettysburg I'll post and let all
know in case anyone needs anything. Thanks again,
Ralph
