A.J.

The NVCC club met with Brian, Doug, Richard and one other member whom I
can't remember his name (sorry).  '63 coupes dominated the meeting with
three present.  Richard's, Doug's, and mine.  Brian drove his nice plum
colored Miata.

Technical aspects of the meeting included:

- The proper sugar content of donut and a chocolate éclair (tested).

- Pondering when looking at a bare engine block why did Chevrolet cast 3 cam
journal oil passages (# 1,2, & 4 journals) on the RH side and only one oil
passage (# 3 journal ) on the LH side on the block....hmmm.  The crankshaft
journal oil passages are evenly spaced with 1 & 3 on LH then 2 & 4 on RH.

-- We deduced it had to be cheaper to cast. We also verified the aluminum
flashing after the casting process was likely never attempted to be removed.

- Verified that my 1963 Spyder is a finicky starter when cold.

- Richard tightened up his mechanical fuel pump which was beginning to
rattle.

- I suggested a joint meeting with CVCC at the Air Circus in Bealton, VA
sometime in 2012.

Well. as they say, I had good intentions of attending today's meeting, but
the Corvair did not cooperate. Thanks to Bryan for trying to get me going.
After I got it home on the flat bed, my brother and I tried to get it
started by pouring gas into the carbs. The car started but didn't run long
so Bryan's assessment of a fuel delivery issue seems to be right.

Can anyone fill me in on what went on at the meeting? I need it for my last
newsletter.

Thanks.

A. J.
