Justin,

I've researched the generator issue a bit more.  According to the
CORSA Tech Guide, the red metal riveted tag on your car's generator
should have one of the following numbers: 1100357 for 1960, 1102227
for 61, 1102226 or 27 for 63, 64 and 1102336 for 64.  All should have
a 30 amp output except the 64 it has a 35 amp output.  If you don't
have one of these numbers on your car, you have a conventional
generator from a non-Corvair.  Non-Corvair generator field coils are
wired in the opposite direction than ones in a Corvair and will not
produce any juice.  Let me know what you find out.

My speedometer cable needs adjusting and the blinker needs to be fixed. I need to do an oil change, but want to get the car mobile and out of my complex before doing that. Preferrably change it myself. Perhaps if this generator replacement doesn't workout and charge my battery than I have a short somewhere?!
