Hi Justin,
The good news it that most of these things are not major at all!
We should start with carbs, timing, tune-up issues so it runs well and
maybe the turn signals. You may want to pick up the tune up bits that
you may need if you have not changed plugs, wires, points, condensor as
those may or may not be OK on the car. Also a good idea to do a
compression test to get a baseline that all cylinders are good...no stuck
or broken rings, etc.
I will come and bring a timing light and some tools....if we have Jack
Dempsey, Bryan or one of our other carb gurus in attendance we will all
learn something!
Best,
Darrin

[NoVa-Corvairs] Northern VA Corvair Club August Meeting
I wanted to let everyone know that Ron and I resolved my generator
issue! My Vair is good to go and running and charging the battery.
I haven't received many emails back or RSVP for Saturday, but I hope to
see most of you.
All that needs to be addressed on my car is:
1.Timing needs to be set2. I have a vacumm hose from the air cleaner that
goes somewhere? Any one have any extra Corvair vacuum hoses?
3. My turn signal needs to be fixed. I have one of the parts that came out
from it, but not broken. Darrin heard you were an ace at the turn signal.
4. My old horn needs to be remounted and tested under the car.
5. Need to check the gas heater and see if it works and replace the hose
from the fan to gas heater. Anyone have an extra gas heater hose? The gas
heater looks like it works, but I have no idea if it does?
6. Would like to take the Corvair on the road and have one of you follow
me and one ride with me or perhaps drive it to make sure that the carbs
are set right and etc.
These are the majors I need to address if any of you can assist me?
Please let me know if your coming and if I don't know who's coming perhaps
it may be a surprise, but I definitely can't wait to meet all of you that
are coming and those of you who are not.
I know the summer is busy, but perhaps we can start getting our Corvairs
out on the road monthly like the Mustangs Clubs.
I use to have a 1972 Mustang Coupe, but it needed to be rescued interior
wise far more than the Corvair I have.
I sold it back in 2010. I said if I got another car it would be in way
better condition and would require less restoration. I already know I am
going to have to overhaul the drivers side and passenger sider floor
boards, but other than that just the regular run of the mill restoration
work.
Thank you all,
v/r
Justin
