Yes, there are a number of things you can do, short of removing your name from the mailing list. Go to the url directly above, enter your user name/e-mail address and password and have at it, "it" being adjustments to the way you receive e-mail. You cannot exclude one or more members' posts, but there are things you can do that will work for most people.
For example, you can choose to get your Northern Virginia Corvair Club e-mails via the daily digest instead of immediately, as they are sent. This is what I've done just now since I'm too far removed via time and distance to react immediately.
Additionally, you can use your e-mail client's preferences (I use OS X 10.8's Mail client) to create a rule specifically for certain senders. Since Mail tells me every time a new e-mail hits my inbox with a visual as well as an audible alert, I often create a special rule for some senders that marks their posts as "read" and moves them to wherever I want them sent, such as to the Junk or Trash or, in my case, Corvair folder. Both these actions still let me see the e-mails while reducing the distracting static caused by a very heavy user of a group list who's communicating with only a few list members.
On the other hand, one of the guiding principles of Northern Virginia Corvair Club, as established at the first meeting in 1984, is to share Corvair knowledge and give other members help when it is needed. As the guy who started the club, I'm very pleased to see this spirit continues to this day. Little did we suspect in olden times, though, that e-mail would largely replace the telephone, USPS and face-to-face communication as the glue that would bind the group together much like the telephone party lines of really olden days. Modern times call for modern solutions.
Keep the shiny side up!
