You said is was sandblasted. Hopefully it was really soda or bead blasted. If it was sand it will need sanding with fairly coarse paper, maybe 320 or so to get rid of the indentations. I'd try a spot with 500 or so first and if it takes out the rough surface, great. If it leaves the sand marks, drop down to a coarser paper.

If it was bead or soda blasted, you might be able to go straight to 600 with the exceptions of scratched areas that you would be forever taking out the scratch.

What you want to avoid is wasting too much time polishing scratches or imperfections when you should drop back and sand those areas. Also, avoid putting scratches on where they weren't (been there) like sanding with 80 or 150 grit and then having to sand out those deep marks.
