I've written probably too much about this on my site and forums, but yes, 1600 is on the high side for our cars, maybe good in the muscle cars. It won't hurt, but it is expensive and I believe better than the home brews that are usually over in protection and light on keeping deposits low. It is also on the expensive side.

A good CI-4, or even a CJ-4 is all we need and a lot more than anything offered in the 60's and 70's.

As for break-in, most people would now argue that the normal level of additives is right. New cam, a little paste. Old cam, same oil as you will continue to use. Small aircraft break-in without additives as you want the oil consumption to end in the first 25 hours or so. Can't run low in the air. With normal oil, we will see break-in within 2000 to 4000 miles unless moly or chrome rings, which might take a little longer. No big deal.
