Sorry to say my left rear wheel
bearing finally gave out today on interstate 94 and now my
60 is at a napa auto care facility.i heard a noise this
morning squealing and making like a steel pin ball noise in
the rear. I had the brakes and u joint on the left side
checked before this occurrence By this shop first thing this
morning. the shops owner apparently felt bad as i asked them
prior to departing his shop had they checked my wheel
bearing and he said he did not. Assume that in the near
future ill be replacing my right rear bearing as I don't
know the suspension history on my car. I know the club
helped in the past with the front wheel bearings and packed
them along with replacing my front brake shoes. This has to
be it on major repairs! Besides strengthening my car period
and replacing anything to secure the integrity of my car.
My situation today involved me having loss of my brake
system and having to use my emergency brake as a form of
braking as my left rear bearing failed and I was in four
lanes of eastbound interstate traffic.
My gas pedal was replaced and the issue resolved yesterday
with Greg and Curtis shimp.
The gas pedal prior to arriving to kalamazoo decided to
stick creating a cruise control effect and almost ending me
up in to the rear end of a semi filled with gas who did not
signal to get over into my lane.
I should receive my car back in the morning as I did not
want to disturb any members attending the Corvair convention
with repairing my car.
Definitely will be noted as a memorable trip, no doubt.
