Justin,
Sorry, but my wife it out til next Friday and last weeks of school...so
fully booked and then off to Portland and Alaska...back on July 1st...here
for a week and then Paris. Maybe a weekend day in early July would be
good for me.
Replacing a head is not so daunting...just lots of parts to remove on the
top of the engine as well as the carb studs if doing it in the car. Start
spraying penetrant on the top stud nuts on that side now...the ones that
you can see just above the valve cover on that head. That will help.
You will need exhaust donuts for that side as well as the crossover
(likely), head gaskets (just use stock steel ones), carb base gaskets. May
want to replace the o-rings on the pushrod tubes on that side if you have
not done this yet. What am I forgetting gents?
1960 80 HP heads should be very inexpensive unless rebuilt. When I did a
61 80 HP motor a few years ago I found two NOS heads, one for $30 and the
other for $50...had to add valves and springs though. Good used head
from Greg is a good bet.
