> Walter Carter of the Tidewater Club passed away Saturday evening. He was a true Corvair lover and a real "people person". Few people east of the Mississippi did not have some kind of contact with him at one time or another. He drove a Corvair to most conventions after 1980 and was an avid competitor in all aspects of the shows. Most of the time he entered every event.
> Walter's never give up attitude when he was traveling made itself known when He developed PowerGlide problems on the first day ,on the way to the Flagstaff Convention. He overcame most of his problem by installing a junkyard transmission beside the road someplace in Arkansas. It had no reverse but that was OK with Walter. He never backed up from anything. He finally arrived at the convention after the banquet had already started, tired and dirty but ready for the trip back home to Virginia. There was only one Walter Carter.
There will be two services for Walter.

Visitation Wed 3 pm and service 4 pm.
Friday Eaton Funeral home, 325 North Main St.
