[NoVa-Corvairs] September Manassas show-Trans Leak

If it has been a while since you used the car, then just fill up the
Powerglide and drive it. This is a known failure of the torque converter
seal on most all automatics with age on them. If you drive them regularly,
it doesn't leak, but if it sits, then red fluid all over the floor. C4, C6,
200R, Powerglide, etc.
The Corvair shift cable jacket also breaks, not typically at the end, but
somewhere between the transmission and the tunnel. The drip forms at the
lowest point of the drooping cable. Replacement cables are expensive, but
the correct fix. Many Corvairs are running around with self vulcanizing
rubber tape holding the fluid back. Most successful, but some still
weeping. "Rescue Tape" is one brand recommended on the forums, but other
versions are sold in the electrical tape areas of hardware stores. Clean
the cable sheath really good before applying tape. One person uses epoxy on
the break before wrapping with tape, with good results.

Will do - I'll slide under it tonight and have a look.
Thanks.
