Yes, get the sender, gasket and ring from Clark's (or another vendor).

Once you get a car down to a gallon or two, you can jack up the sender 
side of the car an tilt the gasoline to the other side.

Yes, having a lift is much easier when R&R the tank is called for.

No smoking, no incandescent drop lights, no sparks, etc etc etc.
