[NoVa-Corvairs] Trophies list

Frank said "I have yet to build one, but I have the parts" about the valve cover races. That applies to many, many corvair assemblies in my home!
I had a great time but felt like a freeloader as I did not of the advance buying, hauling, stuffing of bags, stocking of beer, etc. I can do a bit more heavy lifting next time and sounds like we will all need to do that as Ron may already be retired and lolling on the beach.
I agree that we should have hard luck and distance and maybe best of show. Perhaps a driver category for cars that really are driven....that would break up the open/closed classes a bit and get more NoVa cars in the winners circle as Doug, Ron, Greg, Frank all drive their cars.
I won a raffle prize that I did not put tickets in for, so maybe we need a bit tighter control on the raffle ticket boxes?
How about a movie night with an old car favorite....with beer...in place of the valve cover race?
Location and hotel still rock. T-shirts were great, registration seemed flawless, good turnout. Weather could have been much worse.
Frank did a great job on the tech session, but maybe a hands on session or two, simple things like rebuilding a carb, explaining how the electrical system works (what does a regulator do and what are the options), new products (like Seth's HEI ignition), etc. Of course, I did not suggest any of this before the event.
Hats off and kudos to the club for hosting a fun event. We followed Ron and Karen on the fun drive and had dinner together...was nice to have two cars driving together. I like the informal approach, but maybe staging cars that want to caravan would be easy and more of an "event".
Does anyone know if Daniel got his car out of the lot?
Best,
Darrin

Gail?
I've known the Whelans since it was Paul and his siblings, no wife. No
Gail I know of. Tina is the wife, Abbey is the daughter.
Maybe she was using another name to confuse the other participants!
More people should have run, as Helen was not there to take the trophy!
Historically I think the Tidewater club has the most participants in the
valve cover race. Since only one Tidewater member showed, that
eliminated a lot of people. Wade normally runs, but had family
obligations. I have yet to build one, but have the parts! Someone want
to host a valve cover racer building meeting? That is how Tidewater got
so many racers.

We should set the race minimum fro 8-10 racers pre registered to preclude going to get the track. If the track custodian is attending, that may be a different story.
