[NoVa-Corvairs] need a new axle shaft and flange with bearing

The axle broke at the flange (where the wheel attaches)? Never seen that
on a Corvair, although there was a recent post on Corvair Center Forum
where that did happen n a 62.

I think we need more names of parts. Too many flanges here.

So, do you have a very very rare failure of a broken axle, or do you
have the common splines wore out of the flange where the u-joint attaches?

If the latter, I have never seen the axle get damaged, the flange is
much softer and fails first. If the "new" flange fits just slightly
loose, cut an aluminum can and use it to shim the "new" flange. The bolt
that holds the flange onto the axle is grade 8, and the washer is
special (very thick). Make sure not to loose the washer, hardware store
washer will not fit.

Right and left are the same for the above parts. Now, if talking the
u-joint flange (there is that word again) that fits into the
differential, right and left are different, except for 1960 and
positraction units.
