[NoVa-Corvairs] Fwd: Cruise In-Fly In

Hey All.   I am not sure about rain, but since your Saturday is now free you may want to attend a once in a hundred year event at the College Park Airport near the U of Md.  Oldest operating airport in the World.   This is a Celebration of the first Airmail Flight in US which took off in a WW One "Jenny"  a Hunred years ago.
This will be recreated.  Lots of old planes and vehicles.  I had heard the may allow newer Antiques also.   Very rarely is there a Fly in Event there due to DC Security.   The Musuem is also cool.

I am taking apart or Moving my parts 65 Coupe if anyone needs a good front clip. Some other Sheet metal good also.  I may just torch it apart.   Thought I would ask.  Vehicle can be towed on a dolly right now.

So come up to College Park Tommorrow for the Airmail family day.  Google it up.
If that does not apeal then the High Wheel Bicycle Race is in Frederick ,  Md.  Folks come from all over the world to race.  Only fast race in the US.

When was the last time you saw bi-planes, wing walking, etc etc?

If anyone has a canopy there is room to put it up. Wood bleachers are there for sitting, but you can also bring comfortable chairs too.

I'm not sure if you remember but I was telling you about an upcoming joint event between the CVCC and the Beech Aero Club. I would like to invite all of NVCC as well and was wondering if you could get the word out.


We will meet the

pilots from BAC at the

Warrenton-Fauquier Airport (5075

Airport Rd, Midland, VA 22728) at

11:00am on Sunday, Aug 12th.

BAC will have a grill set up and

will be cooking hotdogs for us. We

will give the pilots a lift to the

Flying Circus in Bealton, VA. This

is a short 10 minute ride to the

airfield. The show starts at 2:30

and will last until about 4pm.

Food is also available on the field.

Following the show, we will drive

the pilots back to the Warrenton-

Fauquier airport and they will then

in turn give anyone from the

Corvair Club a ride in one of their

airplanes. There will be an entry

fee into the Flying Circus. If we

have enough to show up, we may

be able to get a group discount but

the airplane ride is free!


We would love to have a good turnout for this so if you or any NVCC members would be interested, we'd love to have you!
