 </p><p>Depending on what I have time to do between now and September 27, here are some possible tech ideas -- nothing too wild:<br />
 </p><p>1) Setting timing, syncing carbs -- my Corvair has plenty of power, but it idles a bit too high and belches a bit on accel.  Carbs are newly rebuilt and custom machined linkage kit is fully installed (including transmission pivot); secondaries are not hooked up.<br />
 </p><p>2) Install lower shrouds<br />
 </p><p>3) Muffler hangers -- Recently, I fitted a stock exhaust system onto my Corvair.  However, after reviewing photos of late Corvairs with dual exhaust, I do not believe that I accurately positioned the mufflers.  Frankly, I think my muffler placement looks kind of goofy. 
After repositioning the mufflers I'd like to install the muffler hangers.<br /> </p><p>4) Replace blower fan (i.e., the fan that controls the heat, not the big fan on top of the engine).<br />
 </p><p>5) Replace a taped up heater hose under the car.<br />
 </p><p>Question: can a layperson easily rebuild the Corsa tach and temp gauge or is it better to replace with rebuilt units?  Mine are useless and depressing.<br />
 </p><p>Please keep in mind that my street does not have scads of parking.  Fortunately, my neighbors are understanding people so perhaps we can stick one of your cars in someone else's driveway.<br />
 </p><p>Please also keep in mind that I have a mandatory formal event on the evening of the 26th, so I may be a little tired and hungover!<br />
