The exhaust manifold studs do not need to be removed as long as you pack well around them to keep them from breaking through the shipping box. If the cylinder head temp sending unit was working you can leave it in. If you plan to replace it, take it out now just in case it snaps off, you can ask the head re-builder to extract it while they have it. At 48 years old it might be a good idea to replace it anyway.<br>

Got it off today. Amazing how much more smoothly things go with a little experience.
Need to remove the choke thermostats before shipping. Should I remove the exhaust manifold studs? A couple came out on the head as I forgot to raise the flap on the lock washers before. What about the cylinder head temp sending unit? Leave in or remove?
