During the Saturday meeting we discussed the rear toe adjustment for FCs, and I brought up that the rear bracket is incorrect on Rampy and that is likely throwing off the rear toe. I had the right answer, but the details were a bit fuzzy, so I dug up the e-mail on the subject. Here's the deal:

The '64 car bracket is not exactly the same as a '64/'65 FC mount - Chevy moved the engine mount bolt back about 3/8" to allow for the balancer + a/c pulley on the cars (there's a photo of the two car mounts in the Corvair Underground catalog) while the FC continued with the '60 style mount (no a/c in an FC). What this means is if the engine was installed with the '64 car bracket you can run out of adjustment for toe, since that's done by moving the engine/trans pack back via shims at the transmission mounting bar. If the engine has a solid pulley the '60 - '63 car engine bracket will work fine, but with a balancer there isn't enough room to change the belt. The '64 or '65 FC bracket is the best fit, as it was made for an FC with a balancer on the engine.

The other thing to watch out for are the bolts to the trans bracket. The driver's side has a 3/8" "special spacer" (Clark's part # C9387) for the driver's side. This is really nothing more than a really thick washer (3/8" thick).
