It looks like the connector may have lost a nut and/or bolt or two, or possibly the splines on the shafts themselves are rusted beyond use. Until you either pull the upper steering column or lower steering column and box it will be a little hard to know for sure. Sounds like a good project for a meeting... Luckily it happened very close to home and no one got hurt... Greg</span></span>

hi all. Hope everyone is well. Been traveling a lot to my parents lately, so been a bit MIA, but I have a question on my 65 Corsa steering. It COMPLETELY went out on me on Thanksgiving. I mean, steering wheel spun like a top with no steering. Luckily, I had just brought it home from my shop and was literally parking it on my street at home when it happened. Here is a shot from underneath.. It's up next to the gas tank- and I guess this is the coupler- on the shaft from the steering wheel, you can see a bit of non rusted metal. It appears that the shaft is spinning in the coupler. I was expecting to see something more broken but I'm not sure how the coupler is on the inside. Has anyone tackled this before? Any tips? It's way up there, not a lot of easy access and the coupler looks pretty rusty.

The usual Black Friday sales always get me thinking about replacing 40+ year old tools in my tool box.

Browsing the ads I found this one from Home Depot. I need to replace some of my old Craftsman sockets and tools with new ones.

This Milwaukee 3/8" socket set looked interesting. I particularly like two features of this set. The sockets are all 6 point and the sockets have a square end where the ratchet goes. No more sockets rolling away on the garage floor. The square end can also give added leverage by using a regular wrench on it for added torque. They have a lifetime warranty and the set comes in a heavy duty carrying case. All for $99.00 which is $90.00 of the regular price of $189.00.

Move fast since It does not say how long they are on sale. Here is a link to the Home Depot page.

Lowes is offering a Craftsman 25 piece acetate handle assorted screwdriver set. The sale price is $34.98 which is $7 off the regular price. It comes with both flat a phillips tip, a spark plug gapping tool, and four picks for those pesky o'rings. The set is on sale until Wednesday the 30th.
