Here is an activity going on this weekend that a co-worker of mine is hosting. It sounds like it might interest some of you, drive your Corvair out to Keenesburg and check it out!
Here's a quote from an article in the Greeley Tribune about the memorial "The Moving Wall coming to Keenesburg, said Mark Kauffman, a Keenesburg resident and one of 98 members of the American Legion, was funded and built by three Vietnam veterans -- John Devitt, Norris Shears and Gerry Haver -- and is on display throughout the United States each year from April-November." Time: The Moving Wall will be available for viewing 24 hours/day beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 6, and ending at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8
Program: 9:00 a.m. June 6 Opening Ceremony
4:00 - 6:00 p.m. June 7 Flag Raising honoring the fallen soldiers of the Vietnam War
8:30 p.m. June 7 Candlelight Vigil honoring all veterans
7:00 p.m. June 8 Closing Ceremony
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #180 will be serving food from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. If you would like to volunteer your services to help with the serving of food, please contact Kathleen Peake at (303) 886-2337 or Debby Lewton at (970) 381-0525
There are a few restaurants in Keenesburg that will also be serving food. Please check out the antique shops, gift shops, and numerous other businesses before leaving town!
