Hello Paul: One other thing you might try first: replace your new
condenser with the old one.

Dwell is right on the money, and timing is set at 12 btdc.

wires are fairly new and snug on the plugs and the distributor. On the
first pass, I didn't put the rotor in tight so the "teeth" on the underside
were chipped off. I replaced both rotor and distributor cap and removed
the two chipped pieces of plastic from the distributor.

because the screw hole for the silver distributor cap is stripped, but
that's a pre-existing condition that caused no problems over the last four
years.

on Sunday. It'll make it, but it's running crappy. The car was running
great before I did the tuneup; I just wanted to see if I could make it run
better since I hadn't tuned it up in 7,000 miles (4 years).
