Subject: Directions - Annual Summer Picnic - This Sunday, August 25th at Cherry Creek State Park
This years event will be held at an e specially inviting place, the Smoky Hill area of the Cherry Creek State Park . The shelter overlooks the beach at the northeast side of the reservoir.
The date is Sunday, August 24th . The official gathering time is 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM , but we’ll probably start eating about noon, or so.
There is lots of parking, but we can’t reserve any spaces, so come early so we can park together.
This year, the RMC will provide the hotdogs and hamburgers, as well as plates, cups, and tableware. Some of the drinks will be provided as well as condiments like ketchup and mustard.
For our part (PPCC), I would encourage everyone to bring their favorite potluck dish to share and some extra drinks .
The state park will charge a $9 per car entrance fee, but the RMC has decided to reimburse our PPCC members for this fee (a very nice thing for them to do for us) . The only requirement is that to collect the reimbursement, the PPCC member needs to come to the September or October RMC club meeting with their receipts.
The park is easy to get to. The South Parker Road (Hyw 83) east entrance is the most direct into the park and our picnic area, so from the Springs, it's a straight shot up CO-83, up through the city of Parker, taking a left on E. Lehigh Ave . Or, you can travel I-25, merge on to I-225 N, take the S. Parker Road Exit ((Exit 4 to the right), and from there turn right on E. Lehigh Ave .
So bring your favorite camping chair , or hiking boots, or swimming trunks and plan to enjoy the end of summer with your friends in the Rocky Mountain and Pikes Peak clubs!!
See you all there!!
