Hello All;  I’m betting  most of you know about Martin’s Sales & Salvage on Highway 34, but may not know the Martin’s have sold the business, or at least all the cars.  Everything in the yard is set to be crushed for scrap.  I had a long talk with Chuck last Friday and all the metal goes to Anderson’s.  He says we can still buy from him, but it goes on Anderson’s books.  The rumor is the yard will continue as a pick-a-part yard, but all the old cars go.  The plan to process 400,000 tons of scrap from there.  Once they start crushing., the place won’t be open.

  

The yard is still open and the destruction won’t start till about June 1, so we have time get parts.  I went in looking for Falcon parts, and see mostly 60-63 Falcons;  a few 64-5, and 1 or 2 66-70.  Most are 2/4drs and many early Rancheros.  No Sprints, no hardtops, and the bones of 2 convertibles;  also about 6-8 Comets.  There are many 60’s Fairlanes, full size Fords, and FoMoCo back into the 20’s; lots of Model A pieces. The north-east side has piles of all kinds of axles w/ wishbones so front /rear parts out of 20/30’s Fords if you have those, or want to build a hot rod.  Also lots of old Gm/Mopar/Studebaker, Hudson, etc. And if you have a sharp eye, other parts laying around anywhere and everywhere.  I’d guess there are easily 2500 old cars in there.

  

In my mind it’s a crying shame, but the business decisions have been made.  Get the pieces you need while you can, ‘cause once it’s gone there won’t be any place like this again.
