Steve's right...I worked for as Product Manager for Maremont Exhaust for 19
years. We founf that 4 pounds of sulfuric acid is produced for every 100
pounds of fuel burned. That solution sits in the mufflers & eats it from
the inside out.
The other issue is freezing. In the northeast & midwest, there was an issue
with GM G body cars & transverse mufflers. Customers that drove short trips
actually filled up the muffler with condensate & blocked the tailpipe
opening, so the car would barely run.
Warm 'em up & dry 'em out. Happy Labor Day!
