Hi all,
This month we won't be at a special event or place so our meeting will be at the Valley Hi golf course, 610 Chelton Road in Colorado Springs. The meeting time is 09:30 although there will be a Zoom component available for those who cannot attend in person. I set those up to start at 09:00 in case people want to start early and wrangle their computers into cooperation.
This month is an important meeting. There have been several developments with respect to See More, the cutaway display car. The board has been discussing the issues and we feel decisions need to be made and we feel the membership should be consulted about the decision or make suggestions or volunteer to take on some of the related tasks. We hope to have as many participants as possible to get better representation of the club overall instead of having the usual few making decisions.
To summarize:
* See More is PPCC's sole responsibility to deal with at this point. RMC has stated they don't want to share cost or responsibility.
* The group caring for See More is small, and often their time is limited.
* Where to park/store the trailer is an issue although last winter it was stored at Duane's place. We don't have the flexibility we used to.
* Tony was using his vehicle to tow the trailer but Tony has at least two cars he wants to show and having him haul See More creates a lot of wrangling to get his vehicles all at a show.
* Operating expenses for Tony's vehicle are considerable, particularly since Diesel fuel has become expensive.
* Tony has stated he is removing his truck as a potential tow vehicle.
* Randy Karl drove Tony's truck but did not feel comfortable doing it, Tony's truck is no longer available, and Randy wants to bring his car too.
* We have one potential other tow vehicle but the owner of that vehicle is frequently out of town/out of country so his availability is severely limited.
* The board feels that having someone outside of the club paid by the club to drive would put the club at a liability risk, and does not solve the tow vehicle problem.
* We could hire a bonded transport company to bring See More to events but the board believes that will exhaust the See More fund very quickly.
* At one point there was a discussion to "rent" See More to organizations that might be interested and have them responsible for transport but I haven't seen anybody volunteer to run that operation.
With all of the above and there may be more ideas/issues, the board requests that the club consider "re-homing" See More, possibly to the Corvair Museum. They have their own issues with their lease and the overall home for the museum so the timing may be poor. There was also a suggestion to contact the person who found and rescued See More to see if he might be interested. Any suggestions or reasonable discussion is welcome.
