Hello Glen: the codes on diff to ID the r/p ratio are very difficult to see in most cases. If you want to know gear ratio the next time you have plugs out and a couple of helpers place car in 4th gear and push car I full revolution of tire while counting how many turns the crank pulley makes.

If just over 3 turns a 3.27

If just at 3 1/2 turns a 3.55

If almost 4 turns a 3.89

Typically a 140hp Corsa is 3.55 from factory but never know after all these years what it has been changed into.

Plus even if you can read the markings it is no guarantee what someone could have changed inside.

Enjoy your Corvair!

Mike, thanks for the pointers on the ID number tags. I found mine. Photos attached. Looks like the original paint was the blue (F-2) and it’s a willow run vehicle. I don’t suppose there is a way to ID the differential without taking it out?
