Garrie:
Hope that you're healing well after this accident.
Vehicles are replaceable, people are not.
Your point about installing a dash cam is well taken.
Driving home on Friday night at about 11:30pm we got sideswiped by an impaired driver who had already sideswiped three other vehicles on I-25 SB between Broadway and University. The driver of the van high-tailed it down Buchtel westbound with sparks flying from the left rear wheel (tire had blown). Quite the sight to see and a bit of fancy driving by a drunk in an 80's Chevy panel (work) van.
Thankfully, no one was physically injured and the damage was confined to just the vehicles. The knucklehead damaged the passenger side of a white Tesla, the Driver's side of a Hyundai, and the driver's side of a new Lincoln. Our 2007 4Runner sustained just very minor damage to the left front fender. We got lucky.
A dash cam would have been a great thing to have because the events of the accident happened all too fast to take it all and remember it for the statement we had to give the DPD officers.
After DPD had gotten everyone's statements, gave us the case numbers, and let us go, we headed home; but just a few miles south at Hampden, we had to detour due to a serious accident that closed SB University and WB Hampden.
Good grief, what a way to end the evening!
Be safe out there,
John Dawson
