Jerry,
If you have a set of the CORSA Tech guides, it probably has tips on removing the pulley/balancer..

Hi All!I will start by apologizing for the long email. I'm new.
I'm working on my Corvair trying to get the finishing parts of the engine done. I need to replace the Rear Seal (Behind the Harmonic Balancer/pulley) on my 1965 140 engine that is "in the car". I was wondering if anyone has the small Pulley Puller that Clarks sells made by Blue Chip Tools (Russell Davis) designed to pull the balancer without tipping the engine down for room? And if so, would you be willing to loan it to me for a day or two at the most.
I know if I wanted to drive to Denver a couple times Steve would probably have it, but I try to keep from making those trips. Hoping to find someone local, close to the Springs that has it.I will be buying this tool in the future as it seems like something I should add to my toolbox, but I'd like to remove my balancer first and check to see if it has a worn groove where the seal rides. If so, then I can buy a sleave to fix this at the same time as buying the new seal and tool. I'd hate to buy the sleave and find out I don't need it. Or pay for shipping more times than I need too.
Being new to this group of folks I don't know all the rules, I work every weekend (today being my Saturday) so I will rarely meet any of you fine folks. I have not been able to attend any meetings. But if you have concerns about me, please contact Steve (Rear Engine Spec) as I know he will vouch for me. Please contact me if you have this tool and are willing to loan it to me. I'm not sure how many of you Corvair owners work on your own cars but I'm guessing most. I'd be happy to meet up with you anywhere. And if you have nothing to do, you're welcome to visit my garage and help with removing the balancer. I live close to the middle of the Springs, and I just dropped my wife off at the airport, so it's time to get that long list of honey-dos done and work on the Convertible.
