PPCC List - Torque Plate

Hello Folks,
I have a technical question regarding engine building and I'd appreciate any assistance you guys can provide.

I bought the full-fin cylinders and new pistons from Clarks.  I want a local machine shop to re-hone the cylinders in addition to the other recommended diagnostic procedures.
I'm using Geddes to do the work, and he told me he needs a torque plate to do the honing.  He mentioned I could buy one but that's a bit spendy.

Do any of you have one of these I could rent maybe?
Do any of you have a different opinion on the requirement to do the honing at all?
