Steve,

Possible diagnosis from afar.  If you stepped on the clutch, heard a pop and then no clutch action, it sounds like a broken cable.  Not terrible if you have a replacement but you need to take the tunnel cover off.  There is never a good time for this to happen.

Sorry to hear this; it is fixable but a hassle, particularly with drizzle every 30 minutes like here.
