<DIV>During the recent Club meeting (last Sunday), the topic of the PPCC hosting the 2017 CORSA International Convention came up, driven by a request from CORSA leadership to canvas the Club for support. As of right now, no Club in the western region has submitted a bid to host the event, and now with the 2015 Convention closing out, the bidding process has now been opened to the entire country. They are looking for a formal bid to be submitted NLT 1 October for any Club wishing to host the 2017 gathering.</DIV>

<DIV>During the meeting discussion, I was actually surprised to hear a small measure of support for the idea (read that as no one threw food at me or ran me out of the building as I offered up the idea). Some folks did stop me after the meeting with concerns about the level of support we can expect to actually expect from the active membership (members who are on the Active Club Roster and in good standing with dues. With Randy out of town, and this being an issue of a timely response back to CORSA, I'm reaching out today to get the ball rolling, in one direction or another, for a future Board meeting and motion/decision.</DIV>

<DIV>So, in looking at the current active roster, we have 28 members/memberships. Behind the scenes of those names are spouses and family members, which brings the potential Club support, for any event up to around 46 folks. At any given meeting, we typically have 9-10 of those members (with or without families) show up. As of late, in assessing the members actual participation in car shows and events (they bring their Corvairs out for folks to enjoy), either sponsored or supported by the Club, we average about 4-5 folks (during the summer months). I note these numbers because if we can't even put together an Autocross or Rally for the Club members to enjoy locally, what are odds we can rally the troops for a significant event, such as a Convention? Just asking the question.</DIV>

<DIV><EM>My 2 cents:</EM> I think the Colorado Springs would be a wonderful location for a convention. Local self-guided tour opportunities such as the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Pike Peak Highway, etc. would be a hit with folks. A Rally and EconoRun through the Colorado countryside would make for some lasting memories, and doing the autocross event down at Pike Peak International Raceway would rival any of the previous venues for the wow factor. Car clubs hold their national events in the Springs every year, in a variety of venues. CORSA has a very specific checklist of what to do and how to do it, and by when, and they have pledged their support to do whatever they can to help out. so, I believe it is doable, and would be a lot of fun.</DIV>

There is no right or wrong here, I just need you to be honest, as the information will be used by the PPCC Board to ultimately make a final decision that the Club, as a whole, will or will not make a formal bid to host the 2017 Convention in Colorado Springs. If I do not receive a response from you/your listed email address, then your answer will be logged as a "No" I cannot/will not support the bidding process. I know not everyone gets to their email every day like I do, but this issue is a timely one, so assessing the level of support early on is critical.</DIV>

<DIV><STRONG>Question</STRONG>: If the PPCC Board approves a motion to submit a formal bid to host the 2017 CORSA International Convention here in Colorado Springs, in the mid-June to mid-July time frame (2017), are you willing to actively support that effort by being part of a planning Committee, part of a support team, or general volunteer of your time and talents (whatever it takes) to make the event a true success and a positive reflection on the PPCC?</DIV>
