Re: [PPCC] In Temporary Need of an Axle with Bearing for a '63 Road Trip

Hey Ken/Ed/Steve,

I think Ken’s axels would be best for a trip from the west coast. I’d trust my spare for a couple hundred miles, but the splined end is just too sloppy for much more than that.
Steve, we did go through your stash of yokes a while back and couldn’t find anything that would work. That’s when we decided I needed new axles and the ones I painstakingly rebuilt got relegated to my stock of emergency spares.

Ken, we could meet up on Saturday and I could grab an axle that I can take down for the meeting Sunday if you’re not going.

Since your car is not running and with your travel schedule, you probably haven’t had time to get it sorted. If you would like to ride down to the meeting Sunday, let me know and we can set something up for me to either pick you up or meet somewhere.

Best,
For my ’64, I have a pair of axles from Clark’s…brand new…that could be loaned. Have bearings pre-installed. No yokes though.
I’ll be out of town until Saturday but could drive them down to the Springs if needed on Saturday.
Rick I have several yokes if you want to bring your axle by the shop I will see if I have one with good fit. If I do the yoke can make the trip with your axle.
I have a spare axle with new Clarks repro bearings and not many miles on them. Splined end is a bit sloppy for daily use, but good for a spare.
