The method of getting the cutaway car to the Rosemont museum event needs to be resolved. The club has committed to having the cutaway car on hand for the show. We need to figure out a driver and a tow vehicle, or offer our regrets. The event is July 9. Please let us know if we have a back-up driver. We can rent a pick-up but the trailer has electric brakes so a U-Haul pick-up may not have the proper hook-ups. U-Haul trailers use surge brakes as far as I'm aware. U-Haul will routinely say they won't allow their equipment to be used to haul a Corvair.

The future of See More is not necessarily as urgent, but if we aren't able to get it to shows it's value seems limited. The next two event's I've heard discussed are the Cripple Creek all-Corvair show July 23, and the show at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport in early August. It seems we should have a transport plan or a no-transport recognition so we don't commit to something we can't do.

There is a suggestion to consider "re-homing" See More permanently. This last year in particular has offered several challenges as far as were to store the car and trailer in the off season, how to get it moved for maintenance on the car and trailer, and how to get it to venues for shows. The people who have traditionally done the storing and hauling are becoming fewer, and most of us want to show our own cars so there is less opportunity for transporting the car.

At the bottom here is to discuss the mileage rate for transportation of See More. I believe the bylaws fix a rate for a year but there is a suggestion to evaluate it at least quarterly, or even based on the prevailing fuel prices at the time of transport. The issue described more briefly is that if fuel prices are high their cost will overwhelm the allowance for wear and tear.
