I have had a complicated year so far that has lead me to being just before the Bike MS tour without even talking to my sponsors. I wasn't ready to talk about the Bike MS Tour in April, it was still snowing after all. In May I was travelling for Melissa's graduation ceremony at the May meeting. Of course, there was no June meeting this past weekend, and many of you were off at the Tri-State. I unfortunately wasn't able to join you, as my father has been ill and is now in hospice care, so I have to save my vacation time for trips to Wilmington DE to see him. So please accept my email plea below for those with MS, for whom we ride in a few weeks.
In about 2 weeks, I'm riding again in this year's Bike MS Tour with Team CONEHEADS, and would love your support in my fundraising efforts! This is my 25th year riding in this tour, which itself is in it's 31st year. We will ride 150 miles in 2 days from Westminster to Fort Collins and back on the last weekend of June, the 25-26th. All 28 of us CONEHEADS are working hard to raise funds to help those with MS and to put an end to Multiple Sclerosis. I am working to raise $2,000 this year, and our Team goal is $75,000! Our team has one rider with MS as well as 2 rider's wives, so it is very personal for all of us.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, blindness and more. MS is different for everyone, and that makes it all the more challenging to solve.
Believe it or not, pedaling a bike could be the answer to a world free of MS. Mile by mile, dollar by dollar, Bike MS provides much needed funding not only to research, but to ensuring people affected by MS can live their best lives. I'd really appreciate your support in my fundraising efforts. I read recently that over the course of the history of this bike event (which started in 1985 and occurs annually in most cities across the US), over $1 billion has been raised, improving lives through direct support as well as research that has lead to much more effective treatment and earlier diagnosis, and improved outcomes. There is still no known cause or cure, so there is plenty of work still to do.
Your tax-deductible contribution will help the National MS Society fund groundbreaking research and life-changing programs for people living with MS. And ultimately, end MS forever.
Click the link below to go to my fundraising page, where you can donate online, or find other ways to give. I have a month after the ride to get my funds in so I will be available at the July meeting.
Thank you so much!
Also, if your employer has a matching gift program, please look into potentially doubling your donation, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help out there.
