RMC List - FW: Tri-State

John, as I understand it New Mexico has issued Covid-19 guidance very similar to Colorado. By postponing the event until next year, in cooperation with the hospitality providers, all deposits will likely be carried over. I’ve been dealing with cancelled race events for RMVR, and this has been the standard practice.
I’m confident that CNM will not be penalized for changes made under the current circumstances.
Stay healthy,
Eric Schakel

According to the April CNM Newsletter. We (CNM) will continue to plan on having the Tri-State meet in May, unless and until we are forced to cancel by government regulations.
Why is this important? Because if they choose , on their own, to cancel the event, they would be subject to very serious financial penalties, amounting to several thousand dollars.
In other words: It doesn’t matter one bit what we think as possible participants; it is up to the governments of the city of Albuquerque or the state of New Mexico to decide if this event will be held.
Thanks reading my 2 cents,
John

I agree. pushing back a year seems like the most prudent thing to do.

I don't see this mess ending by May.
Moving to 2022 probably makes the most sense.
My opinion only of course.
Best wishes to all

Ed Halpin just forwarded this email from CNM regarding this years Tri-State.
I would concur with David and the CNM board. With all that is happening with this COVID-19 thing, that there is no certainty surrounding postponing an event till later this year.
I like the idea of pushing everything back a year. As an additional benefit, it would give us an additional year to plan our Tri-State that would now be scheduled for 2022.
Thoughts before I respond to David and Jan?
Best,
Rick

It is now looking more and more certain that the Tri-State in May will have to be cancelled. The consensus of our Board of Directors is that we would like to reschedule the event for next year at the same approximate time. Would your clubs be amenable to that? We considered postponing until later in this year, but there were too many uncertainties in such a plan, since we can’t predict when the pandemic will really subside. We are open to suggestions, so please let me know how you all would like to proceed.
Dave Allin
President, CNM
