I just wanted to let everybody know that after the Meeting Friday, Steve Goodman reached out and offered to take on the data collection effort as far as what RMC thinks about the future of the Tri State (most likely post 2025). I've chosen to delegate my part of the research process to Steve G. H's made it clear he wants to be a researcher and communicator, NOT a decider.
I'll admit to being fuzzy on what each of the clubs thinks. My thought process as far as urgency of issues tends to be is it on fire, will it collapse, will someone be injured or killed, is the toilet flushing, its there water flowing (beneficial and wastewater in the correct directions), do we have power and heat or A/C as needed? If we're all good there then the urgency is low. Some issues may even solve themselves. I'll admit that I have not been as proactive as some may feel is necessary.
So, Steve G. has sent an email to CNM to try to clarify what the issues are that raised the initial concern about the current and future states of the Tri-State.
I'm on the board of PPCC at least until the new president is elected although the past president will be in Australia, perhaps making the position of the past president on their board awkward. Many of the RMC members are dual members with PPCC so we have access to their membership.
Steve G. has also contacted members of the Bonneville club (the third part of the original "Tri moniker) to see what their thoughts are and possibly to encourage them to participate in the effort so we can remain Tri-State instead of becoming Tri-Club from now on.
This configuration will hopefully clarify such topics as it must be this way because the two Steves say so versus we need to go someplace different every year so we don't get bored. Steve can gather thoughts on member supplied (donated) raffle items versus not doing that, what are door prizes and how many, how many different tee shirt styles and colors, etc. Steve can collect thoughts on the banquet cost and complexity and also how far we want to make people drive form the various club locations and how far we want to deviate from a generally central location. Steve points out we used to have people from "far away lands" like KS, MO, TX, OR OK, WA show up so maybe we can attract those folks again too.
Steve is busy too but he is a historian of the Tri-State and the clubs so I'm happy he is willing to offer the time and energy.
Regards,
Mike
