My $0.02 since I have 2 sets of these wheels, each on one of my Corvairs.

They came from early 80's Camaro Z-28 cars. They are very common and came in multiple colors. I've purchased 5 for each car so I have a spare in case of mishap and to hVe a spare tire. I've had mine sand blasted and powder coated by Spec Wheels USA.

They are 15" and hub centric to the Corvair. I've used longer wheel studs on the rear to get plenty of threads for the nuts. They use the bulge type acorn lug nuts. Don't use the stock steel nuts. The Camaro had metric lug studs. That doesn't matter since you are using the US thread studs on the Corvair. Just use US thread lug nuts.

The backspace on the wheels does not match the Corvair and the wheels are wider. The backspace is within reason but the wheels do make handling a little "twitchy" on bumpy roads.

I use 205/55-15 radials. The circumfrence of the tires makes my '65 and '66 speedometers very close.

On other little detail. I buy Camaro black plastic wheel centers with steel retainers. I peel off the Camaro logos and add stick-on centers with Chevy bow ties to give them a Chevy look.

Too much info, I'm sure.

Mike

Sent from Xfinity Connect Application

-----Original Message-----

From: rmc-list@corvair.org
To: rick@mylifeatspeed.com
Cc: rmc-list@corvair.org, jkbeighle@hotmail.com
Sent: 2020-08-04 2:06:05 PM
Subject: Re: RMC List - Fwd: Re: RMC August Newsletter
