[SCG] Call for materials - Club inventory

Thanks, Mark. For you and all others who may be wondering why I am taking
this inventory, here are my answers:

1) Identify resources that ever did exist and determine which are still
available. If our research is to be valid, we need a bibliography of
research materials
2) Identify SCG members who have such resources so as to direct research
questions their way, as appropriate.
3) Identify resources that may be in danger of being discarded (due to
membership aging, etc.) and secure them for future use.
4) Begin the process of determining how best to preserve such material for
future users (Central Library? Digital Library? Etc.)

Along with the above I also want to identify other sources of information,
such as other Chevrolet Car clubs (Camaro, Chevy Lovers, etc.) that may have
resources of interest, and form liaisons with them as needed to further
research and preservation of assets.

We need to determine how we wish to summarize and reference data as well, if
we are going to move forward in our goal of producing stock reference
manuals for each year, make, and model Corvair. Should we (can we) merely
reproduce existing material, or will we summarize and tabulate material with
footnoted references, etc.?

We probably should start forming some sub-committees to concentrate on
certain material. For instance, we could have a coding subcommittee in
charge of gathering up all codes, part numbers, etc. (I do also have
material pertaining to LOF codes, Rochester Codes, Coil springs (1964),
casting codes, etc.

Anyway, let's start by stating our inventories as best we can and see where
that leads us.

Bill and all,

For the record, I supplied Clark's with all their accessory installation
manuals, as I have a complete set for model years '60 thru '66 (the last
year they were made.)

I also have a complete set of (combined) parts books (one each year)
from '60 thru '69. Also several price books of that vintage and later as
well.

Also, a complete set of Dealer Albums for all years. The color charts
and fabric samples are included, with the exception of '61, which is in
a separate binder, which I also have. Unfortunately, they don't cover
the Corvan, Rampside, or Loadside, as these were deemed trucks. I don't
have any truck albums.

A complete set of Chevy shop repair manuals and Fisher Body body
manuals.

A relatively complete set of sales brochures for all years. (Does anyone
really know just what all was published? - G)

All of the above are original publications, not reprints. I also have a
number of original items that I will have to get listed.

Computer files that I have been working on have documented 1)all the
color and trim options available in all years of cars, plus GB (and the
rest of the trucks AFAIK); 2) all the car options for all the models and
years, in a searchable format; 3) and am working on a window sticker
reproduction file. I have almost completed the '67 file, and am close on
the '69 file.
