In this case, one can usually take the car in question to the State Police,
have them examine the vehicle, and issue a report that details the correct
info. Then you take that to the BMV/DMV.

I once ran into a '68 Monza that had been titled (here locally in Ohio) as
a '67. (Ohio always goes by model year.) Since it had a super low VIN, the
nearest I could guess was that since it was probably the first '68 the
registrar saw, she being used to typing '67 for the last 12 months, and
accidentally typed '67. It's a case of typewriter "operator inattention",
government style.

The question is, how do you convince the BMV that there's an error on the
title? With computerized bookkeeping anymore, well, just try to talk to a
computer..... LOL
