Despite our less than complete knowledge of just what is stock/original, I
still think that more of an effort should be made to acknowledge and reward
the efforts of those who endeavor to preserve Corvairs in the condition
which God and General Motors intended!

AH yess...there is the rub.....the Corvette folks
took on the task of extremely thorough documentation
of "what's stock", many decades ago..and have that against
which to judge their autos....hard copy master reference
documents that are extremely functional, both in text and
images, for each year are available to one and all...
CORSA chose to ignore this effort...one would think it would
be an early on, bedrock activity, for the national organization...
and just recently the group of folks who saw the need, independently
started SCG started down that path..however the effort has been less than
strongly supported by CORSA or the general membership...in both
the pocketbooks and their efforts...

Until the hurclean task of completing that documentation
occurs..and it is made available to the rank and file...
one can just forget about cloning the Bloomington
Gold approach in the Corvair world...

Subject: [SCG] "Bloomington Gold" for Corvairs?

I was recently reading an article about the Bloomington Gold Corvette show

and how it recognizes Corvettes that have been preserved or restored to
factory authenticity and condition. As the award procedure was
explained;
"It's not really a competition, it's a measure of how well you've
preserved
or
restored a car to factory authenticity." Corvettes that are deemed 95% or
more stock get a gold certification. 90-94% originality earns silver and

85-89% earns bronze.

I was wondering of something of this nature has ever been considered for
Co
rvairs. I know that Corsa concours has a stock category but Corsa
concours, to me, has always seemed to focus more upon the quality of the
work done
on a car rather than the authenticity ("originalness" or "stockness") of a

car.
