Thanks, Dave.
Can anyone tell from the photo of the engine compartment how stock that
appears to be?

Hi Bill,
We know the car's history through Pete Cimbala who was acquainted with the
original owner's family. It was offered on eBay last year by a slick
collector car dealer.
Yes, it would be great to document the stock details on the car.
Unfortunately the stock underside of the car was ruined by a schlocky, used car lot
application of black and silver paint before it went on eBay. The original
owner lived on a farm and drove the car on gravel and dirt roads to his
house, which dinged up the underside of the car. The collector car dealer's
two-bit detail job tried to cover up the damage but made the car worse, not
better.
The entire underside is painted black so there's no red oxide primer or red
paint showing (including partly sprayed springs & shocks). Except for what
they painted silver and the bottom of the trunk (which looks like it as a
complete coat of fresh red paint on it) they hit everything in black. The
PG pan, exhaust system, axle shafts (!!), front suspension linkage, gas tank
and strap etc. all got shot in silver, likely from a spray can. If anyone
wants to return the underside to stock it will cost them some bucks and a
LOT of time.

and type "Corvair" into the model search. This should take you to a list
of two Corvairs, one of which is a 3,000 mile all original '63 Monza
coupe.
Wouldn't it be great if one of us could track down the new owner and get
his/her permission to document this car?!
