Hi Wade,

I have a 62 Monza Sedan with the cloth interior in red. The interior is not perfect, but is 100% original. The car has under 50,000 miles. I would love to participate in the registry. Thanks for setting it up. I often thought that there should be a listing for these rare cars.

Hi Folks,

I'm starting a new registry that is for 1961 & 1962 Corvair Monzas with factory cloth upholstery, which were the only two years for this option and only on the 4-door models, to include the 1962 Monza station wagon.  The cloth seats were available with the bench front seat both years and with the bucket seats for a short time early in 1961.  Corvair Monzas with the cloth bench seats surface occasionally.  A 61 4-door and a 62 4-door were on eBay recently with the cloth interiors, however I have only heard reports of one or two with the cloth bucket seats ever being seen.  The cloth was not as durable as vinyl, so unless the car was low mileage and/or well cared for, the cloth portions of the seats usually wore out.

The purpose of this registry is to locate and record any 1961 and 1962 Monza still in existence with factory cloth interiors, to document the unique features of these interiors and to collect data such as VIN, Body Plate information and photographs of cars with these interiors.  Eventually I hope to have enough information and pictures to make a good Communique article.

I have a 4-page packet I can email as a pdf file that includes more details, color illustrations of a typical 61 and 62 interior with cloth upholstery and a Registry Form.  Let me know if you are interested in participating in this registry and I'll send you the packet.  I can also send the Registry Form as a separate Word file if you want to file it out and return it electronically.  If you can't accept a pdf email attachment, I will mail the package by USPS if you give me your address, but the illustrations will be in black & white.

Even if you know of one of these Monzas that someone else owns or one in a junkyard, it would still be of interest for this registry regardless of condition.

Thanks,
Wade Lanning
