Based on a second opinion I have received and comparing this car to another in the registry, the b uild date code is 02C, not 09C.  Thus it would have been built the 3rd week of February 1961.

Hello Everyone,

I'm sending this email to both the Monza Cloth Interior Registry distribution list and the Stock Corvair Group.

I hope by now you all have seen Dave Newell's great article in the January/February Communique about 1961 & 1962 4-door Monzas with cloth upholstery.  Coincidentally, there is currently a '61 Monza 4-door on eBay with cloth buckets seats.  You can see it at this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-CHEVROLET-CORVAIR-MONZA-900-4-DR-HARDTOP-/330664672536?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4cfd267d18

It has the Trim code 845 fawn interior.  The Body code is OA 2532, so it is the 2532nd Monza sedan built at Oakland for the 1961 model year.  The build date code looks like to me is 09C, which means it would have been built the 3rd week of September 1960, thus fairly early in the 1961 model production year .

The car looks fairly solid in the pictures, however the interior is worn.  It might make a good car for someone who wants one of these unusual Monza cloth interior 4-doors with bucket seats for a restoration, or just leave as it as a survivor.  It does appear to possibly have a late model motor and some after market add-ons..

Thanks to Bill Stanley for bringing this car to our attention.  I'll add it to the Monza Cloth Interior Registry and try to contact the new owner after the auction ends..
